Jason Roy is South African, British cricketer who plays for England in ODIs and Twenty20 international cricket. He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm bowler. In domestic cricket, he represents surrey and played in multiple teams in the Indian premier league (IPL).
Early Life
Jason Roy was born on 21 July 1990 in Durban, South Africa. He moved to England along with his family when he was 10 years old. At the academy level, he represented Surrey in age-group cricket from U-11 through to the U-19 level.
Career Highlights
In June 2008, he made his first debut for Surrey in the Twenty20 world cup match and he became the first Surrey batsman to score a century (101 from 57 balls). In September 2014, he made his Twenty20 international debut against India which was the turning point of his career. After the very next year, Roy made his ODI debut against Ireland in Dublin. He was then selected to represent England team against new Zealand.
During the 2016-2017 seasons, he was selected in the T20 world cup squad for the England team. Roy got the man-of-the-match award in the first ODI of the series against Pakistan. He was bought by Lahore Qalander in 2017 PSL. In the 2018 PSL draft, he was bought by Quetta Gladiator.
In IPL 2018, he played for Delhi Daredevils, in April 2019, he was named to England’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. The same year, in December, he was again picked up by Quetta Gladiators. In the 2021 IPL, Roy was signed by Sunrise Hyderabad.
Roy was part of the England team for the home ODI series against Ireland and Australia but missed the T20I series against both Pakistan and Australia due to a side injury in September 2021.

Jason Roy is married to his longtime girlfriend Elle Moore, on 7 October 2017. The couple had blessed with a child in March 2019 and a second child in January 2022.
