According to the reports from and, Haaland’s advisers believe that joining Real Madrid would provide him with the necessary exposure to win the Best Fifa men’s player award. They also mentioned that while the striker is content at City, he is less satisfied with residing in Manchester.

Despite scoring a record 52 goals last season and playing a crucial role in City’s historic treble, Haaland finished second to Lionel Messi in the 2023 Best Fifa award. He tied with Messi on 48 votes but lost because more national team captains voted for the Argentinian.

When asked about the reports, Guardiola responded by saying, “I don’t know, you have to ask the media from Madrid. Maybe they have more information than we do. We don’t have the feeling that he’s unhappy. He was unhappy because he couldn’t play for two months due to an injury, but perhaps the media from Spain, especially Madrid, have more information than us.”

Guardiola emphasized that Haaland adapted quickly upon joining City in the summer of 2022 and has been fine since his arrival. However, he acknowledged that they cannot control what people say and that the most important thing is for Haaland to be happy. Guardiola added, “When he’s unhappy, he will make his decision.”

Haaland made a 20-minute cameo appearance in Wednesday’s 3-1 victory over Burnley after returning from injury. Guardiola expressed his satisfaction with the 23-year-old’s contribution, stating, “Every transition, every pass, all the players looked for him. I know how important he is for us.”

City will face Brentford on Monday night, a team they lost 1-0 to on the final day of last season, although they had already secured the title.
